THE NEW ANTI-SCRATCH PAINTING - LEXUS
Some time ago that Nissan had a painting made up of nanoparticles that is able to rearrange the molecules to “cover” minor scratches. For now, Nissan only uses this component in their higher-end vehicles, those sold under the Infiniti brand. Lexus, meanwhile, has announced the development of a similar technological innovation, which will debut its flagship .
The Lexus LS, in both its 460 and its 600h hybrid version, will lead a new anti-scratch painting, which besides protecting the vehicle’s exterior finish, is capable of self-repair to minor scratches. That is, those little grooves that are only seen when you look closely the body. The new paint is applied in the last phase of construction of the LS. Although the video you can see below shows something else: two graffiti artists working on canvas with a Lexus, it has nothing to do with this, but really cool.
Lexus engineers have developed a specific layer, contrary to what might appear, is softer and more flexible than conventional paints and it protects the veneer of small scratches and damage to a coup. It has only been possible to evaluate the compound molecules of paint and getting a new composition much more elastic and high density.
For elasticity, is known to the property to that before impact, the painting itself again extends over the damaged surface automatically. In the day to day, this means that the body of a LS with a little scratch, is able to self-regenerate its original factory color. Additionally, the Lexus paint is totally anti-scratch resistant to acid rain and not requires no maintenance by the customer .
